Stop everything and run outside—it snowed in Alabama! Notice I’m already using the past tense because the inch or so that fell in Birmingham has already melted. Blink and you probably missed it.
Growing up in Jersey, snow was a given in the winter. Sledding, shoveling, and intense snowball fights were our favorite pastimes from November—March. I still act like a child and run outside to play the second flakes start drifting their way down. We were lucky to have a short-lived but spectacular snowfall in Jersey over Thanksgiving while visiting my parents.
You have to take what you can get here in Alabama. I actually met someone today who had never seen snow fall from the sky. It’s laughable how everyone freaks out and the entire state runs out of milk and bread, but that doesn’t take away from its beauty. The second I got home I grabbed the dogs, threw on my trail shoes, and went for a run. So here are my “snow storm” pictures to prove it really happened.
